Westerville North defeated Brunswick 10-9 last Saturday in a nail biter that went to OT! The Warriors trailed much of the game and were down 7-9 with 1:35 remaining in the game. Ariana Sanabria’s goal with 1:02 pulled the Warriors within 1. After controlling the draw, North worked the ball down field and were fouled by Brunswick. Alice Stevenson scored her first goal of the year on a free position shot that tied the game at 9 with :44 seconds remaining. The score remained tied at the end of regulation.

In OT, North won the draw but was unable to score initially as Brunswick forced a turnover. North’s transition defense quickly applied pressure and Grace Heighway checked the ball out of the Brunswick’s player’s stick and quickly picked up the loose ball. Grace moved the ball around the back of Brunswick’s goal and made a feed pass from behind goal to Noel Orioli who put the ball in goal for the sudden victory! Truly an amazing comeback by the Warriors.

Grace Heighway led the Warriors with 3 goals, Paige Miller added 2, and Ariana Sanabria, Emily Garee, Noel Orioli, Gianna Ricci, and Alice Stevenson each added 1. Grace Heighway had 3 assists and Emily Garee and Alice Stevenson each had 1. Reese Burke had 7 saves in goal for the Warriors. In the midfield, Grace Heighway had 8 draw controls and was a ball-hawk with 16 ground balls controlled! Paige Miller added 4 draw controls while Alice Stevenson and Kait Boso each had 1.
