The Westerville North girls basketball team lost to visiting Pickerington Central 57-37 in a Division I district semifinal Feb. 24, 2021.
The Tigers limited the Warriors to two field goals in the first half, leading 11-3 after the first quarter and 29-12 at the half. It was 45-23 Central entering the final period.
Emoni Finch was the lone Warrior in double figures with 19 points.
“We knew they were going to try and jump on us,” said North coach Lamont Tillman. “Offensively we just haven’t been a high-powered, high-scoring team. When they jumped out on us early it was just tough to come back from it.
“Our girls are going to fight until the end. We’re never going to give up. We’re going to make it hard on you. That’s just the heart that our girls have.”
Tillman acknowledged the Warriors’ quality season.
“No one can take those things away from us,” he said. “These are times and years you’re going to remember and you’re going to learn from. You’re going to be better for it. I’m so proud of these girls.”
