The Westerville North boys basketball team defeated visiting Grove City 59-50 on Feb. 23, 2021, in its Division I district tournament opener.
North had four players in double figures with Camden Ledford, Carter Reese and Noah Lawrence all scoring 13 points. Caleb Iheukwu added 11.
“It was a tremendous effort by the kids,” said North coach Shan Trusley. “It was a culmination of all the work they put into it this year, all the obstacles, the adversity they’ve had to face. They were just really good tonight because Grove City’s a good basketball team.
“The effort and our attitude was outstanding. That’s all we ever ask is effort and attitude. All the kids made some type of difference tonight.”
The Warriors led 14-9 after the first quarter and 28-23 at the half. It was 38-37 North entering the final period.
The Warriors, the 22nd seed, advance to face host and 12th seed Westerville South on Friday, Feb. 26.
