The Westerville North boys basketball team fell to visiting Canal Winchester 62-54 on Feb. 15, 2021.
Junior forward Caleb Iheukwu led the Warriors (8-8, 5-5) with 21 points while junior guard Andrew Scurlock added 11.
The game was close early before the Indians went up by double digits in the first half. North cut the deficit to seven at the half (27-20) and got as close as four points in the fourth quarter after entering the period down 10.
“We expended a lot of energy during that time,” North coach Shan Trusley said. “It’s been tough. We’ve been in quarantine for two weeks and just came back Saturday. It’s a tough stretch in that we play Tuesday (at Big Walnut), we play Wednesday (at Delaware), we play Friday (at Scioto) and we play Saturday (at home vs. Kilbourne), so we’re going to get a lot of basketball in the next week.
“I’m really happy with the kids because they’ve had to deal with a lot of adversity this year. We’ve been shut down three times and missed a total of two months since the season started. So the kids are giving it everything they have. At some point reality sets in.”
The Warriors will celebrate Senior Night on Saturday.
