The Westerville North boys basketball team fell to 4-6 overall with a 46-42 loss to visiting Delaware on Jan. 22, 2021.
The Warriors had their chances down the stretch, leading 29-28 after three quarters. They held five-point leads at the five-minute mark (37-32) and again a minute later (40-35) when Andrew Scurlock converted a three-p0int play and Carter Reese drilled a left-baseline three-pointer, respectively.
Delaware took the lead for good (42-41) with a minute remaining, with North missing opportunities at the end.
“We can remedy this,” said Warriors coach Shan Trusley. “We’ve shown this year that we can be successful in those situations. Tonight was just one of those nights where the ball didn’t bounce our way.
“Credit (Delaware). They played well and shot well and made winning plays down the stretch, so they deserved to win the game.”
Seven players scored for the Warriors with Reese the lone player in double figures with 11.
