Last Friday evening the WNHS Swimming and Diving team hosted Gahanna Lincoln High School for a meet at the Westerville Community Recreation Center. Both the men’s and women’s teams would come up a little short versus the Lions of Gahanna, but Coach Rich Morris stated that his team had good swims during the meet. Final scores from the competition were:

Men’s Varsity: Gahanna Lincoln 108, Westerville North 78

Women’s Varsity: Gahanna Lincoln 98, Westerville North 78

Despite falling a little short in the team competition, there were some individual highlights for the Warriors on Friday evening. One of the biggest to note was a victory and new pool record set by senior Andrew Bernsdorf in the 200 Freestyle. He would also claim victory in the 100 Breaststroke, too.

Sophomore Hayden Yeager also won two individual events for the men’s team, including the 200 IM and 100 Fly. The Warrior men’s 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay teams also won their events.

On the women’s side freshman Gwyneth Payton won the 500 Free while junior Christy Harper won the 100 Backstroke. Sophomore divers Emma Weisgerber, Megan Bouton, and Lauren Richards also placed in the competition. Weisgerber took 3rd place, Bouton 5th place, and Richards 6th place for the evening.

Next Friday the WNHS Swim and Dive teams will compete in the “Dual in the Pool” at the Westerville Community Recreation Center. This one will be for bragging rights in Westerville as the Warriors will be competing against their crosstown rivals from both Westerville Central and Westerville South! The meet begins at 5:00PM! Come support your Warrior swimmers and divers!
